Proposed Bylaw Amendments — Dunwoody Elementary School PTO

The Dunwoody Elementary School PTO is proposing amendments to our current bylaws. These changes are designed to strengthen our organization and ensure we can continue serving our school community as effectively as possible.

Purpose of the Proposed Changes

The proposed bylaw amendments are intended to:

  • Streamline the process for filling vacant roles — Establish a clear and timely procedure for filling leadership and committee vacancies so that PTO operations continue to run smoothly, effectively, and efficiently without disruption.
  • Strengthen the nomination process — Create a structured nomination process ensuring transparency and broad participation for open positions.
  • Expand coverage to all positions — Address gaps in our previous bylaws by extending nomination and vacancy procedures beyond the Co-President role to include other leadership and board positions within the organization.
  • Ensure willingness and readiness — Confirm that any individual filling a role is doing so voluntarily and is properly prepared and trained to take on the responsibilities of the position.
  • Clarify term guidelines — Provide clear language around term lengths and expectations for all positions to avoid confusion and promote consistency.

Notice Period & Member Vote

In accordance with our bylaws, the official 30-day notification period for these proposed amendments began on August 27, 2026. The full text of the proposed changes is available for your review by clocking here.
